The share of patients whose cancer is detected at an early stage is growing in Russia. This was reported by the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko. Thus, today 60% of oncology cases are detected at the first or second stage.
Murashko emphasized that this is the result of preventive examinations. Within the framework of the program “State Guarantees” doctors annually screen more than 100 million people.
Early diagnosis of cancer is a chance for complete remission. As a result, today the mortality from cancer in the first year after detection of the disease has decreased by 18%. Patients with detected cancer who lived five or more years after diagnosis increased by 8%.
Earlier, scientists found a link between chronic sleep deprivation and stroke. Also doctors told how alcohol affects the risk of stroke.
