New US sanctions have been imposed on Rosneft and Lukoil. In the face of these restrictions, Chinese importers have reportedly begun searching for alternative raw material suppliers.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova commented on the situation. According to her, the US Treasury's decision to impose new sanctions will not create serious problems for the Russian economy.
The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson also noted that these measures were taken under the pretext of "insufficient commitment on the part of the Russian side to a peaceful settlement in Ukraine." Furthermore, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry, most of the previously imposed anti-Russian sanctions by the European Union have had negative consequences in EU countries themselves, triggering price increases and disrupting energy supplies.
Reuters reported that China's largest state-owned oil companies have suspended purchases of Russian seaborne oil. The agency's report notes that this occurred after the US imposed sanctions against Rosneft and Lukoil, which are described as "Moscow's two largest oil companies."
Earlier, expert Yushkov commented on the US sanctions against Rosneft and Lukoil.
