At a plenary session of the State Duma, Anton Siluanov, head of the Russian Ministry of Finance, estimated the share of the shadow economy in the country based on Rosstat data.
"We have established that the shadow economy in Russia accounts for approximately 10-12% of GDP," the minister explained.
He estimates that this figure is relatively low compared to similar figures in other countries.
Siluanov also announced that the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank will prepare proposals regarding the use of cryptocurrency in interstate settlements. The head of the ministry explained that the goal of the initiative is to legalize this area, as well as to create a legal framework and ensure the taxation of these transactions.
He also emphasized that this task is a priority, as it can benefit all participants in financial transactions.
