Compared to August, import volumes in September increased 73-fold.
Besides wheat, significant growth was also observed for several other grain crops.
For example, barley imports from Russia to China have shown steady growth over the past four months, as reported by RIA Novosti.
In September, the value of imported barley increased by another third, reaching $9.84 million. Oat shipments doubled compared to August, reaching $3.267 million. China has shown increased interest in this grain for the third consecutive month.
Meanwhile, buckwheat imports continued to decline for the second month in a row. September shipments were 44% lower than August, amounting to $2.189 million. Furthermore, China has reduced its corn purchases from Russia for the fourth month in a row, spending $7.509 million. However, the decline compared to late summer was not as significant, only 8%.
Overall, China increased its grain purchases from Russia by 13.3% over the month, reaching $24.1 million. However, year-on-year, imports decreased by 50%.
It was also reported that Russian wheat exports to China fell by a factor of 19 in the first half of 2025.
Previously, it was reported that Russian wheat exports were projected to decline by 20%.
