Russia is going to dramatically increase the number of space launches

By 2036, Russia plans to take 28% of the global launch services market

Russia, in accordance with the goals of the new national space project, plans to significantly increase the number of space launches in the next decade. These plans were announced on Tuesday by Dmitry Bakanov, Director General of Roscosmos, speaking at a meeting in the Federation Council.

According to his presentation, by 2030 the launch capacity of Russian cosmodromes should reach 66 launches per year. This is a significant increase from the 2024 figure of 46 launches per year. In the longer term, by 2036, it is planned to reach the figure of 113 space launches annually. The realization of these plans will allow Russia to significantly strengthen its position in the global market. The goal is to increase Russia's share of the global launch market from the current 6.5% to 28% by 2036.

Amid news of hundred-billion-dollar investments in former Danone plants and changing strategies of Western oil giants, Russia is also voicing ambitious plans to develop the space industry.
