Named regions where Russians earn the most money

The regions with the highest salaries in 2024 have been revealed

The Sakhalin Region, Moscow and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District were the leaders in terms of salaries in various sectors in 2024. Kalmykia, Ingushetia and Chechnya are at the end of the list. The highest incomes were recorded in the extractive industry and the financial sector.

Last year, the Russian labor market continued its transformation, adapting to new economic conditions. The shortage of qualified personnel intensified competition between employers, which resulted in a tangible increase in wages and a record low unemployment rate.

According to Rosstat, the average nominal wage in the country increased by 18.3% and reached 76.5 thousand rubles (including personal income tax). At the end of the year, the unemployment rate amounted to only 2.3%, RIA Novosti wrote with reference to the study.

The analysis of the rating for 2024 shows a significant increase in the number of subjects of the Federation, where in the leading by the level of remuneration of labor spheres the average monthly income exceeded Br100 thousand. Such a situation with high salaries was recorded in 39 regions, while a year earlier there were only 29 of them. In another 46 regions the salary indicators vary within the range of Br50-100 thousand.

When considering individual regions, clear leaders stand out. According to statistics, the Sakhalin Oblast demonstrates the best result: in the field of oil and gas production the average monthly salary is 317 thousand rubles. The superiority of the Sakhalin Oblast is mainly due to offshore resource extraction, which is a relatively new area and requires highly qualified specialists.

The second place in terms of salaries is occupied by Moscow, where the leading position in terms of income is occupied by the financial services sector. Average earnings in this area amount to 302 thousand rubles monthly. Just over 300 thousand people are employed in this sector, which is 5.6% of the total number of employees in the capital.

High salaries are also received by employees of the oil and gas industry in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, where the average income reaches 244 thousand rubles per month.

In addition to the top three, the top ten include the Murmansk Region, the Chukotka Autonomous District, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the Tyumen Region, the Nenets Autonomous District, the Magadan Region and the Kamchatka Territory.

Thus, most of the leading regions are associated with the extractive industry. The only exceptions are finance-oriented Moscow and the Murmansk Oblast, where the highest salaries are received by workers in the fishing industry.

Ingushetia, Kalmykia, Karachay-Cherkessia and Chechnya are on the last places. Most of all there earn civil servants.
