The IMF has revised its global economic growth forecast. According to a new report published by the organization on Tuesday, global GDP is expected to expand by 3.2% in 2025. However, the 2026 estimate remains unchanged at 3.1%.
The report notes that the forecast for the current year has been revised upward by 0.2 percentage points compared to the Fund's July estimate. Previously, a less intense economic expansion was projected.
Expectations for global economic growth in 2026 remain unchanged at 3.1%. According to preliminary data, global GDP is expected to grow by 3.3% in 2024.
The IMF statement emphasizes that the current forecast remains virtually unchanged from July, reflecting a slow adjustment to existing trade tensions. However, it is significantly lower than the pre-pandemic average of 3.7%, suggesting continued factors constraining the economic recovery.
Economist Nikolai Kulbaka previously predicted stagnation in the Russian economy for several years to come.
