According to the forecasts of major insurers, the number of vehicle thefts in Russia will increase in 2025. The main factor is the high cost of new cars and shortage of components.
In the insurance company “Soglasiye” in a conversation with Autonews.ru noted that the current situation stimulates interest in used cars. This increased demand creates a favorable environment for criminals who specialize in thefts in order to dismantle cars for parts. According to insurers, special attention should be paid to owners of Chinese-made cars.
Mikhail Mosesov, head of Absolut Insurance, shares this point of view. He emphasizes that car thieves have reoriented from expensive models to more affordable brands.
According to him, if earlier stolen cars were mainly resold, nowadays the priority goal is to dismantle them for spare parts.
Elena Khakhulina from Zetta Strakhovanie also told the publication about the high probability of an increase in the number of carjackings in the country in the near future, explaining it by the shortage and high cost of car parts.
Earlier it was reported that imports of Chinese cars to Russia collapsed by 56%.
