The bill on the introduction of requirements for the localization of cab cars was approved in the first reading on January 18 last year. According to it, from October 1, 2025 cars for passenger transportation can be bought only domestic, with a high degree of localization, which will be determined by a special system of points.
“In itself, the proposal to prioritize the use of Russian-made cars in cabs is understandable and meets the requirements for the country to achieve technological sovereignty. But it is acceptable only if the cars offered by our automobile industry meet the industry's demand,” the Digital World letter says.
The authors of the letter, which Izvestia has, propose to create a special commission, which will include representatives of the cab industry, the government and car manufacturers, and draw up requirements for cars for cab needs.
All light passenger transportation companies, associations and cab aggregators supported the proposal to create this commission.
In “Yandex Taxi” expressed readiness to create a platform for discussion and to work out together options to ensure the development of cabs and support the Russian car industry.
The National Taxi Council noted that they are for the creation of the Commission and added that all parties should participate in this dialog.
Earlier it was reported that sales of new cars in Russia have collapsed.
