These two types of fuels are in greatest demand in Russia, but not everyone knows what the numbers in their name mean. They indicate the octane number that characterizes the stability of gasoline to undesirable detonation of the fuel mixture in cylinders. This process is extremely harmful to internal combustion engines, so this characteristic is of great importance.
The difference also lies in the speed of combustion. Some engines are not designed for prolonged burning of fuel, so the use of AI-100 in old cars can cause negative consequences. Often fuel with a higher octane number can lead to valve burning, which is a typical sign of engines operating on such gasoline.
According to Autonews observer Ilya Kalinchikov, mixing of the 92nd and 95th gasoline is permissible in emergency cases. However, it is not recommended to do this intentionally. The reason lies in the mixing of additives present in any fuel. The exact interaction of these additives is impossible to predict, and there are certain risks.
In most cases, a noticeable difference in the operation of the car on the 92nd and 95th gasoline can only be found in the laboratory. However, with large runs, the use of cheaper gasoline, if the use of both types of fuel (for example, 92nd and 95th) is allowed, can lead to adverse consequences.
Earlier it became known that the automaker is recalling the sedans Kia K5 due to the parts falling on the move. It was also reported that sales of new cars in the Russian Federation fell by 25%.
