In the Czech Republic, a woman accidentally discovered a medieval treasure trove when she stumbled upon a dilapidated clay pot in the ground containing over 2,150 silver coins.

This event is described in the magazine Popular Mechanics. The publication writes that, according to preliminary estimates, the hoard was buried about 9 centuries ago. Currently, the found coins have been handed over for study to experts of the Institute of Archaeology at the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and the Museum of Czech Silver in Kutná Hora.

According to experts, this find is the most significant among those discovered in the vicinity of Kutná Hora in the last decade.

The amount of silver hidden in the pot represented a huge fortune for ordinary people at the beginning of the 12th century, which suggests the high status of the owner of the treasure. According to archaeologist Philip Velimski, the reason why the owner of the silver decided to hide it more securely could have been the political struggle for the princely throne between representatives of the Přemyslovic dynasty.

In Luxembourg found a treasure trove of Roman gold coins, the age of which is 1700 years.

In Africa, the oldest grave not made by man has been discovered.
