This is reported by Politico with reference to Ukrainian lawmakers.

Politico, citing sources in Ukrainian legislative circles, emphasizes that only Whitkoff holds an official position in the US administration, which makes the nature of these contacts particularly intriguing.

According to Politico, there is an opinion in Washington that Volodymyr Zelensky will not be able to win a possible presidential election in Ukraine.

The main topic of the talks was reportedly the prospect of presidential elections, which have been postponed due to martial law and general mobilization. Volodymyr Zelensky's term of office expired on May 20, 2024.

Earlier, Politico reported on contacts between people from Trump's entourage and former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and representatives of Petro Poroshenko's European Solidarity party.

This news comes amid Trump's statements that Putin did not demand that aid to Ukraine be cut off, as well as reports by The New York Times about Trump's possible disappointment with the results of the conversation with Putin that did not lead to a full ceasefire.

Russian inventors have created a new type of weapon to fight against drones - a “ray gun”. The device fires a laser beam at the speed of light, which disarms the aircraft.

A prototype of the latest weapon was first presented in St. Petersburg at the conference “Defense of Civilian Objects from Attacks by Unmanned Systems”. In Russia, similar devices are still at the development stage and have not yet been used in the special military operation zone.

Nevertheless, according to Ukrainian media, the Ukrainian armed forces already have a laser weapon called Trident. Its power is reportedly enough to shoot down aircraft at an altitude of up to two kilometers. However, so far Trident has not demonstrated its effectiveness in action, and this is unlikely to happen in the near future.

Our device was designed to fight FPV drones and can operate at a distance of up to 500 meters. When a laser beam hits a drone, it destroys its hull and damages the propeller, motors and battery, depending on where the impact occurs. The weapon functions through physical impact on the UAV based on focused laser beam technology.

The creation of the “ray gun” is carried out within the framework of the “Staff” project. The main advantages of such devices include ease of learning and operation: no preliminary targeting is required, there is no recoil, and the requirements for physical training are minimal. Laser radiation is silent, and the work is carried out in a range invisible to the eye.

The speed of laser radiation propagation to an object is the speed of light. In addition, the use of laser increases the probability of detonation of the warhead in the air, which can reduce the consequences of the fall of the drone.
