Expert assessed the likelihood of AFU attack on Zaporizhzhya NPP

The Russian Defense Ministry has announced that the village of Stepovoye in Zaporizhzhya Region has been taken under control. According to the chairman of the commission on sovereignty issues of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Rogov, the Russian army is advancing along all parts of the contact line on the Zaporizhzhya front. Successes are observed from the eastern part of the region to the Stepnogorsk direction on the bank of the Dnieper.

Rogov emphasized that the village of Stepovoye is of strategic importance for ensuring logistics between the AFU groups in the Orekhiv and Stepnogorsk sections. Operations are also continuing in the Vremya direction, which is on the border of Zaporizhzhya region and the DNR, as well as in the Orekhovskyi direction, where the villages of Shcherbaki and Malye Shcherbaki are being liberated.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that the issue of control over Zaporizhzhya NPP in the context of the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine is being discussed. In this regard, Rogov noted aif.ru that the AFU may try to seize Energodar, but Russian troops are reliably defending it, controlling the front line along the bank of the Dnieper.

In addition, Vladimir Rogov expressed the opinion that the AFU units that retreated from Kursk could be redeployed to Zaporizhzhya, but they would not be able to offer serious resistance due to low morale.

Earlier, Russian presidential adviser Ushakov said that Russia hopes for a ceasefire despite the AFU attacks. In addition, Kiev fears that Trump may “gift” Russia control over Odessa.
