The number of delays in streetcar traffic has more than halved in Moscow

Sobyanin: In Moscow, 82% of streetcar tracks have become separated from roads

Modernization of the streetcar network continues in Moscow, making this mode of transport more reliable and predictable. Over 190 million trips were made on streetcars in 2024, said the mayor of the capital Sergey Sobyanin in his Telegram channel.

One of the key areas of development was the isolation of streetcar tracks from motor roads. According to the authorities, more than 250 kilometers of rails have been physically isolated, and over 35 kilometers more have been marked. As a result, the share of isolated streetcar tracks reached 82%.

This separation has significantly reduced the number of accidents and delays caused by other road users. Tramway disruption times have more than halved over the past three years. Notable improvements have been noted on Boris Galushkin, Krasnokazarmennaya and Ordzhonikidze streets.

Routes No. 1, 6, 10, 15, 16, 17, 21 and 28 have been completely separated from the automobile flow. The tracks for streetcars No. 2, 13, 25 and 31 are 90% isolated.
