Danilova: Credit fraud in 23 Russian banks amounted to 12.8 billion rubles

The volume of credit fraud in 23 largest Russian banks by the end of 2024 amounted to 12.8 billion rubles. This was reported by Alexandra Danilova, Director of the Department of Banking Regulation and Analytics of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, at the forum “Cybersecurity in Finance”.

The total volume of transactions carried out without customers' consent reached 26.9 billion rubles. The main funds received by the fraudsters came from transfers from citizens.

In the fourth quarter of 2024 (October-December), this scheme brought 2.3 billion rubles to the swindlers. Through ATMs, the attackers received 664 million rubles during the same period.

The third largest was the scheme with disbursements through bank cash desks, which amounted to 133 million rubles in the fourth quarter of 2024.

In 2024, the volume of credit fraud in Russian banks reached 12.8 billion rubles.

Earlier, the head of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation Elvira Nabiullina proposed to introduce liability of top managers of banks for allowing fraud.

By the way, the number of complaints about theft of money from deposits in Russia has increased 1.6 times.
