Now in the country about 75 million citizens of working age contain about 42.8 million pensioners. The ratio is about 1:1.7. If this ratio reaches 1:1, financial provision of pensioners will become extremely difficult.
Currently, 22% of the wages of working Russians are allocated for pension provision, i.e. 44% of the earnings of two working citizens goes to one pensioner. The parliamentarian told “Gazeta.Ru” about this.
If the number of working citizens decreases, the state will have to find additional sources of funding, either to reduce payments or to increase taxes and contributions. Bessarab considers it a priority to improve the demographic situation.
Since February 2025, the average pension in Russia is approximately 24-25 thousand rubles. Indexation has led to an increase in payments by almost Br1 thousand this year.
