The State Automobile Inspection Service plans to ban the installation on cars of non-standard engines with increased power. It will become impossible to increase power by more than 25%.
General Director of BeriAvto company Islam Alsultanov in a conversation withYuzhny Federalnoted that the use of more powerful engines than recommended by automakers can improve the technical characteristics of the car, but can lead to rapid wear of the transmission.
In addition, car owners are not allowed to change the size of the body to install additional equipment, as structural changes increase the risk of an accident.
The expert added that the new restrictions for motorists should help traffic police officers in ensuring safety on the roads.
There are sanctions for illegal installation of powerful engines. Violators can be fined from three thousand rubles or temporarily deprived of their license.
However, there is still no clear mechanism for detecting violations, which still allows motorists to circumvent the restrictions, concluded Alsultanov.
Earlier it was reported that from 2025 Russian motorists will face new fines.
