Toyota and Lexus recall thousands of vehicles in the U.S. over faulty seat belts

Faulty seat belts cause massive Toyota and Lexus recall in the U.S.

A large-scale recall campaign is being launched in the USA, under which more than 40,000 Toyota and Lexus cars will be recalled. The main reason for this initiative was concerns about possible defects in seat belts.

According to information from the portal 110km.ru, 40,922 vehicles fall under the recall, including 2025 Toyota Camry sedans, as well as 2025 Lexus NX250, NX350 and NX350h crossovers and 2024-2025 RX350, RX350h and RX500h crossovers.

The problem is that these models may have faulty seat belts for the second row center passenger. Errors in the belts' manufacturing process by Joyson Safety Systems in Mexico are linked to a flaw in the “hot knife cutting” process, which may cause them to not function properly.

Although the manufacturer reports that less than 0.1 percent of vehicles are affected, U.S. authorities have decided to conduct a large-scale recall. In late March or early April, owners will be sent notices to go to the nearest service center for diagnosis and, if necessary, belt replacement.
