Viktoria Sheludkova, dentist and director of the Children's Dental Studio, shared with aif.ru why teeth can sometimes darken or change their color, disrupting a snow-white smile, which is a kind of health indicator.

Factors affecting the color of enamel include hygiene habits, diet, including the presence of dairy products, as well as the conditions of tooth formation in childhood, including the period of breastfeeding.

According to the recommendations of experts, prolonged breastfeeding can have a positive effect on the health of the enamel of the child's teeth. It is important to consider the quality of foods, their naturalness and color, as some foods, such as carrots, can stain enamel.

According to Sheludkova, until the age of 21, a person has the opportunity to influence the color and quality of their enamel. However, enamel that has already formed cannot be changed, and the only way to change its color is through a whitening procedure at the dentist.

It is important to note that the color of enamel does not always reflect its condition. Even if the teeth have a darker shade, this does not necessarily indicate that they are in poor health. For example, "tetracycline teeth," which turn yellow-brown due to antibiotics, can be strong and healthy, although they are more vulnerable to decay.

Sheludkova also emphasized the importance of the right approach to oral care and the choice of hygiene products. Improperly selected products or aggressive cleaning methods can damage enamel, cause its destruction or discoloration.

Earlier oncologist Karasev named the products that cause cancer, and Malysheva also warned that instant oatmeal is not useful.
