Gazprom plans to increase capacity for transit through Ukraine

Ukraine got a chance to additionally earn money on gas transit from Russia. If next year Nord Stream 2 is not put into operation, our country will be forced to order and pay for capacities in excess of those specified in the contract.

This was stated by the head of Naftogaz Andrei Kobolev, writes Reuters. According to him, it is necessary for transportation of gas to Europe.

Naftogaz has already turned to Ukraine this summer and asked to increase pumping volumes, Kobolev said. However, he did not specify which capacities were discussed.

We remind, according to the terms of the contract, from next year Gazprom should pump through Ukraine a maximum of 40 million cubic meters of blue fuel annually. If there is more transit, it will be necessary to pay for additional volumes.
