The German authorities plan to buy 100 Leopard 1A tanks to modernize them and then send them to Ukraine, the Greek publication Flight has said.

Initially, Berlin intended to buy these tanks from the Swiss company Ruag, which were purchased in Italy. But the deal is still impossible to close, and therefore, according to the publication, Germany began to look for alternatives and offered Greece to exchange for their improved 100 tanks Leopard 1A5 at a ratio of one to one.

Later, after buying the tanks from Ruag and modernizing them, Germany will hand them over to Athens.

Berlin has transferred 10 Leopard 1A5 tanks to Kiev in the last week.
