The Holy See Press Service reported Thursday, March 30, that Pope Francis, who was hospitalized at the Gemelli Clinic for a routine checkup, will remain in the clinic for several more days because doctors discovered he has a viral infection.

"As part of routine clinical checks, the holy father was diagnosed with viral bronchitis," the report said.

The 86-year-old pontiff was given special treatment and his condition has already improved. At the clinic, Francis is still doing some work as well as devoting time to prayer and rest.
