The bill calls for an initial fine of €3,600 and four months in prison for refusal to pay it.
The newspaper Die Presse, referring to the draft law on compulsory vaccination against coronavirus in Austria, said that the authorities of the country intend to introduce large fines for refusal of vaccination up to 7.2 thousand euros. Such a large fine will face those citizens who ignore the notification of the authorities about vaccination twice.
The minimum fine will be 3.6 thousand euros or imprisonment for four months for refusal to pay this amount.
The Austrian authorities are going to introduce compulsory vaccination for everyone living in the country from February 2022. Exceptions will be made for children under 12 years of age, pregnant women and those who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons. The bill will be presented next week and must still be approved by both houses of parliament.
Austrian authorities have already announced plans to introduce compulsory vaccination in the country from February next year. This led to mass protests across the country among people who are in favor of voluntary vaccination.
Since November 15, Austria has had a lockdown for the unvaccinated against the coronavirus. They are only allowed to leave the house to go to work, to the pharmacy, to grocery stores, and for walks.
