Hannover swimming pools and gyms to have hot water cut off for Germans to save gas

Hanover's mayor, Belit Onay, has announced a series of measures to save gas. Restrictions will be in effect throughout Lower Saxony. The corresponding document has been published on the official website of the city administration.

Onay noted that the goal of the measures taken by the authorities is to reduce gas consumption by 15%. The burgomaster said that the energy situation is unstable, so it is necessary to prepare for austerity.

In this regard, the heating of sports facilities will be limited to +15 degrees, residential buildings to +20 degrees.

In addition, hot water is turned off in swimming pools and gyms. Also on the territory of Lower Saxony will be refused illumination of sights and public buildings.

Earlier it was reported that the EU countries agreed on a plan according to which they voluntarily reduce gas consumption by 15% from August 1 this year to March 31, 2023.
