Pipelines of Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 have been damaged at the bottom of the Baltic Sea, and natural gas is leaking.
A Pentagon spokesman told reporters Wednesday, Sept. 28, that the United States had nothing to do with the explosions and gas leaks from the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines.
"We have absolutely nothing to do with it," the military official said, Reuters quoted him as saying.
He noted that many U.S. allies believe there is sabotage at Russian pipelines, but Washington cannot yet agree with this version.
"Many of our partners have come to the conclusion or believe that this is sabotage. I can't tell you definitively at this point," a Pentagon spokesman said.
The accident occurred on three gas pipeline lines that run along the bottom of the Baltic Sea from Russia to Germany. Experts are giving a preliminary assessment of the damage and believe that it will be problematic to repair them.
