On Friday, protesters against the covid restrictions began to gather on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, where the government buildings are located. Not only people, but also trucks and lorries arrived at the rally - they were parked along central Wellington Street so as not to interfere with traffic, reports a TASS correspondent.

Protesters are holding national flags and banners demanding that all restrictions be lifted. One of the protesters reported that the event will be peaceful. More police showed up on Parliament Hills. Motorists passing by honked at the protesters in a show of support.

The action was initiated by the truckers' activists. Truckers crossing the border into the US began demanding vaccination passports. Canadian transport companies say that the measure will affect about 12-16 thousand drivers - about 15%.

The action itself will take place at noon on Saturday (8 p.m. Moscow time).

Three days ago, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called the protesters "a small group of fringe groups" that do not represent the interests of most Canadians.
