On Wednesday, December 27, it was reported that a pensioner in Italy died after receiving a water bill of more than €15,000.
Earlier it was reported that a woman was shocked to receive a receipt for water for a huge amount. The water supplier charged her €15,399.
According to RaiNews.it, the pensioner was taken to intensive care after she learned that the bank had already transferred part of the amount specified in the bill.
While doctors were doing everything possible to save the pensioner's life, her brother discovered the mistake and tried to sort out the situation.
It turned out that an employee of the company, which reads meters, mixed up the data from the elderly woman and another subscriber.
When the mistake was discovered, the company recalculated the receipt, and the bank returned the money to the pensioner's account.
Unfortunately, the moral blow was too strong, and the 88-year-old Italian woman died in hospital without ever learning that the bill had been erroneous.
