Power engineers promise to restore light to the homes of islanders in a few hours.
The most powerful hurricane Ian in the Caribbean Sea left the island of Cuba without power. This was reported by the national generating company Union Electrica.
"The national power system is in an exceptional condition: zero electricity production (the country without power supply). This difficult situation is also due to weather effects that have affected the infrastructure," the company's press service wrote on its Facebook page.
Emergency services have begun work. They promise to restore power supply by Wednesday morning. Maximum damage was caused to the central and eastern sectors.
Hurricane Ian is rated a level three on the Saffir-Simpson scale. It has passed over western Cuba and is now moving toward U.S. Florida.
