The Washington Post announced the failure of Washington's sanctions policy

The authors of the article informed that the United States is already issuing permission to cooperate with organizations that were previously blacklisted.

The journalists of the American edition of the Washington Post got acquainted with the sanctions of the US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and concluded that they were ineffective.

According to the authors of the article, Donald Trump's administration leads in the number of sanctions. Between 2016 and 2020, 3800 individuals and entities were blacklisted. As of October 2021, the U.S. had imposed restrictions 9421 times.

The journalists also gave examples of the poor effectiveness of sanctions. In particular, they noted that Washington is already authorizing cooperation with organizations on the "black list".

According to the newspaper, the U.S. is at risk of losing "friends". The authors of the article cited the situation with Nord Stream-2, which was built by Russia in cooperation with Germany.

"In the worst-case scenario, the U.S. will force other states to look for cryptocurrency alternatives to the U.S. dollar and financial transaction systems in which America dominates," the journalists summed up.
