United States President Joe Biden gave up the idea of boycotting the Beijing Winter Olympics after Russian leader Vladimir Putin decided to attend the competition's opening ceremony.
According to analysts from the Chinese publication Baijiahao, the Olympics will be held in February. The US is trying to discredit the competition on the Chinese site. America has called on other countries to boycott the Games in China.
Putin recently accepted an invitation from Chinese President Xi Jinping to attend the opening of the Olympics. Biden, in turn, did not say anything specific, but changed his rhetoric.
It is interesting that the American president did not receive an invitation from Xi Jinping. With his statements, he is trying to force his Chinese counterpart to take the first step. A visit to Beijing and a meeting with the leaders of other states can be extremely beneficial for the head of the White House.
