Daily Mail: British citizens lack funds to accommodate refugees from Ukraine.
In Britain, nearly a quarter of the families who took part in the government's program to house Ukrainian refugees want to give it up in the next couple of weeks, the Daily Mail reports. The reason is a lack of money due to rising inflation and energy bills.
"Against the backdrop of the country's financial crisis, it is becoming increasingly difficult for Britons to take care of refugees every day because they themselves risk becoming destitute," the publication noted. Economists estimate that many families have already spent thousands of pounds to help refugees from Ukraine.
The article stressed that the state had promised to pay monthly subsidies, but payments were delayed. Britons have also begun to complain of great difficulties because of the language barrier and cultural differences.
