International Red Cross builds its contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh

President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Peter Maurer announced on November 24 a quadruple increase in the organization's presence in the Nagorno-Karabakh zone.

Up to five hundred people will be additionally sent through the Red Cross to Karabakh. The mission budget in the region will also increase. Peter Maurer said that next year almost $50 million will be allocated to the needs of the Red Cross in Karabakh, while before this year's military conflict, the organization's budget in this region was only $11 million.

The Red Cross will open additional offices in the region. Now one office works in Stepanakert, a representative is seconded to the city. The organization is increasing humanitarian assistance that is sent to the region.
