In Paris, police dismantle tents of protesting immigrants

More than 450 people were and more than 500 tents were pitched on Republic Square in Paris on November 23.

The police prefecture in Paris reports that more than 500 tents, set up on Republic Square, have been dismantled. The camp on the square was set up by immigrants protesting against the liquidation of their camp in a suburb of Paris. The prefecture reports on the release of illegally occupied public space.

Earlier on November 17, a camp in which more than 4,000 immigrants lived was liquidated in Saint-Denis County. Most of them were accommodated in temporary centers, but some people (about 1,000 people) did not appear to have been provided with temporary accommodation. The action with tents on Republic Square was organized by the associations Utopia 56 and Medecins du monde.
