Ukraine plans to start vaccination against COVID-19 on February 24

Vaccination against COVID-19 in Ukraine will start on Wednesday, medical workers will be the first to undergo the procedure.

Viktor Lyashko, Chief Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine, said on February 23 that vaccination will be administered in the capital city and seven other regions.

The day before, the Ukrainian Health Ministry registered a COVID-19 vaccine from Pfizer as well as AstraZeneca.

"Yesterday, Ukraine registered 2 immunobiological drugs for the prevention of coronavirus - this is Covishield AstraZeneca recombinant vector vaccine produced at Serum Institute (India), as well as Pfizer vaccine," Lyashko was quoted by RIA News.

Earlier, the Ministry of Health of the country informed that Ukraine will receive 117 thousand doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine in mid-February as part of the first wave of vaccination.

According to the ministry, the next deliveries of vaccines will take place before the end of the second quarter of this year, and Ukraine will receive from 2.2 to 3.7 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
