Putin speaks about territorial possession of Nagorno-Karabakh

The Russian President commented on the issue of territorial possession of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh republic. Vladimir Putin said that Nagorno-Karabakh is part of Azerbaijan.

In an interview with Russia 1 TV channel on November 22, the head of state noted that even Armenia itself did not recognize the sovereignty and independence of the NKR.

Therefore, according to all canons of international law, both Nagorno-Karabakh and all surrounding areas are part of the territory of Azerbaijan.

Putin also emphasized that according to the terms of the Collective Security Treaty, mutual assistance can be provided to each other by its parties only if the aggression occurred on the territory of the country.

However, according to Putin, no one claimed Armenian territory, so Russia did not have the right to participate in hostilities.
