Last Thursday, the Florida Senate approved a bill banning children under the age of 16 from using social media regardless of whether their parents allow it, Fox News reported.

The bill will now go to the state House of Representatives, where it will be considered before the end of the legislative session on 8 March.

The publication notes, under the ban fall not only all social networks, but also any sites where it is allowed to upload messages, videos, photos and contact with other people.

The developers of the bill believe that such a ban is necessary, because in the United States because of unhealthy dependence on social networks increased cases of suicide among teenagers, cyberbullying and pushing.

Scientists at the University of Amsterdam have found out that children's friendship with their classmates stabilises their psyche and has a beneficial effect on their mental health.
