The construction of the hydrogen pipeline between Marseille and Barcelona is planned.
According to RIA Novosti, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that the German authorities will join the project to build the H2Med hydrogen pipeline from Marseille to Barcelona.
Thus, the pipeline will connect Spain, Portugal, France and Germany. With its help European Union countries intend to replace the MidCat gas pipeline project.
The agreement on the project was signed late last year between the French, Spanish and Portuguese authorities. With H2Med, the Pyrenees will be linked to the EU energy market.
Meanwhile, Chancellor Scholz and Spanish Prime Minister Sanchez are trying to put pressure on Macron because they do not want to block the construction of MidCat, which they believe is a way to overcome their dependence on Russian gas supplies.
