COVID-19 was brought into the country with a batch of seafood, the PRC authorities assure.
Coronavirus did not originate in Wuhan, although the first cases of mass infection were recorded in this city. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) expert Zeng Guang is confident that strains of the virus have entered the PRC along with imported seafood and meat.
He stated that Beijing has evidence that coronavirus was first discovered in Italy. The COVID-19 disease was recorded there a few months before the first case of infection in Wuhan. Chinese epidemiologists say that coronavirus can remain active for a rather long time on the packaging of frozen food products.
