The production of glass containers harms the environment much more than other materials.
A study of scientists at the University of Southampton (UK) proved that the resources and energy spent on making glass bottles significantly harms the environment. This is primarily due to the production of large volumes of carbon dioxide. Scientists note that a little less damage is caused by the secondary processing of bottles.
Plastic containers are in third place. Its production requires less energy, as it happens at lower temperatures. Researchers note that large energy costs are also required for the processing of glass.
In their opinion, aluminum cans do the least damage to the atmosphere. However, they pose a great threat to the health of wild animals, and also pollute reservoirs.
