China introduces quarantine in city bordering Russia due to two coronavirus cases

The PRC authorities introduced quarantine in the city of Manzhouli, which borders with the Russian Trans-Baikal Territory. The reason was the identification of two cases of coronavirus, reports the Central Television of China.

Due to two cases of COVID-19, meetings and mass events were banned in the city. Entertainment establishments, schools and kindergartens were also suspended. The city authorities plan to conduct mass testing of residents (the population of the city is about 172 thousand people).

Passenger rail service is also suspended with the city.

Manchuly is an important logistics center on the border of Russia and China, there is a cargo and passenger border crossing "Transbaikalsk - Manchuria."

In total, 17 new cases of coronavirus were identified in China over the past day most of which were brought from abroad by tourists.
