UN is not ready to withdraw army from Syria in exchange for its two citizens

Pompeo assured that all hostages would be returned home, but in other ways. A representative of the administration has already gone to Syria for negotiations.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that according to the position of President Donald Trump, the United States will not "pay" for the return of hostages by withdrawing its troops from Syria. He responded so to the question about the fate of two Americans held in the republic, TASS reports. Pompeo added that the State Department continues to work on a plan to free Americans.

Earlier, a representative of the US administration, Cashyap Patel, went to Damascus. According to The Wall Street Journal, he had to agree on the release of two United States citizens.

In September, Trump announced that he would partially withdraw the army from the territories of Afghanistan and Iraq, the most part of military had already left Syria. According to him, the US Armed Forces cannot fight for so long. He also accused the Pentagon of waging wars to enrich weapons companies.
