European countries plan to include a ban on liquefied natural gas supplies from Russia in the 14th package of sanctions, Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billström said.
He arrived at a meeting of the EU foreign and defense ministers in Luxembourg. According to him, the adoption of the next package of sanctions against Russia is one of the most important steps. European countries are going to include a ban on LNG imports, the minister said.
Earlier, a senior EU official said that the 14th package of sanctions will be directed against those who circumvent the existing measures. At the same time, he did not specify when exactly it will be introduced.
The first sanctions were imposed back in 2012, before the events in Ukraine.
