The European Union plans to start formal talks on June 25 on Ukraine and Moldova joining the union, Politico reported citing diplomats.
According to five diplomats, who shared the information on condition of anonymity, the bloc intends to start formal negotiations on the accession of the two countries as early as June 25.
The authors of the material emphasized that the decision on the accession of the countries was postponed because of Hungary's disagreement and fears that the issue of enlargement of the Union may become a key topic during the elections to the European Parliament, which will be held on June 6-9.
