In New York, the Consulate General of Greece was attacked by an unknown person. Someone tried to set fire to the entrance of the diplomatic mission.
Dinos Constantinou, Greek Consul in New York, told Greek TV channel ERT-1 that the intruder doused the plants near the entrance with flammable liquid and set them on fire.
However, thanks to the prompt action of firefighters, the flames were quickly extinguished and did not cause much damage. No one was injured during the incident, assured Constantinou.
In addition, he said that the police have already started searching for the arsonist, there are recordings from video cameras, which will help in establishing the identity of the suspect. It is also expected that the FBI will be involved in the investigation, as the consulate also houses the residence of the Greek Ambassador to the UN.
