Ukraine for the first time ever decided to import cucumbers from Russia, according to a report by analytical portal EastFruit, which specializes in news about the fruit and vegetable market in Eastern Europe.

It is noted that Ukrainian cucumbers and Russian cucumbers compete in terms of price even taking into account the fact that Ukrainian importers have to pay a 10 percent duty, which appeared after the withdrawal of Ukraine from the agreement on free trade with Russia.

Due to the small number of suppliers, Ukrainian cucumbers are quite expensive - 38-45 hryvnia per kilogram (1.44-1.70 dollars). In Russia, cucumbers cost 60-80 rubles (0.82-1.09 dollars) per kilogram of smooth cucumbers and 90-120 rubles (1.23-1.64 dollars) per kilogram of lumpy ones.

In addition to Russian cucumbers, one can also find Belarusian and Turkish cucumbers in Ukraine.
