Weather forecasters note that strong winds will remain in the region for about three days.
Local forecasters are predicting a major hurricane in western Georgia.
The National Environmental Agency is warning residents of the Rion lowlands and those living in the regions of Samegrelo, Zemo Svaneti, Guria and Imereti about strong gusts. Wind speed will reach up to 30 meters per second.
Local residents are asked not to go out into the streets unnecessarily, avoid roofs of buildings and not to be near power lines. Due to the bad weather, several people have already been taken to hospital, and one victim died.
According to forecasters, bad weather conditions will be observed in the region since the morning of January 20 to January 23 inclusive.
