Microsoft to acquire game developer Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion

"We are very pleased to announce that Microsoft is buying Activision Blizzard," said Xbox CEO Phil Spencer. A company representative stressed that until the deal goes through, Activision Blizzard and Microsoft Gaming will continue to work independently of each other. And once the deal is closed, the studio will report directly to Spencer.

“After signing the deal, we will offer a maximum of Activision Blizzard games through Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass subscriptions, both new games and games from the Activision Blizzard catalog,” a Microsoft executive said. Activision Blizzard has created such famous game series as World of Warcraft, Call of Duty, Diablo, Candy Crush, StarCraft, Tony Hawk, Overwatch, Spyro, Hearthstone, Guitar Hero, Crash Bandicoot.

The Wall Street Journal, which first reported on Microsoft's plans to acquire Activision Blizzard, said the deal is valued at $68.7 billion.
