The European Sentinel-2 satellite has revealed footage showing a fiery fault on the surface of the earth in Iceland.
Sentinel-2 is monitoring the planet from space. Judging by the photos, a lava flow is coming out of the sliding plates. In the pictures it resembles blood, so in the network it became known as the bleeding of the Earth.
The rift was formed in February 2021. Then the volcanic system within the planet became active. The crack is now about three kilometres long. Researchers are frightened by its position: it is only 40 kilometres from the capital of Iceland.
In Iceland, Reykjanes has recently seen two strong eruptions of the Fagradalsfjadl volcano. It is thought that this may have affected the planet's internal activity.
