The daily increase in new coronavirus cases in Turkey has quadrupled this month compared to the previous month. This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Health of the State Fahrettin Koca.

"Omicron has become the dominant strain of COVID-19," he was quoted as saying by TASS.

The minister added that the number of patients requiring medical care has grown by less than 10%. Koca noted that during previous waves, hospitalization rates were higher with fewer daily infections.

“In all likelihood, Omicron will reduce the risk of the epidemic, we are looking forward to this situation,” he said.
