The U.S. authorities are considering imposing sanctions against Hungary due to the refusal of its authorities to follow the Western policy on the conflict in Ukraine. This was reported by the local newspaper "444," citing Hungarian diplomats.
No details are given, but the U.S. blacklist is likely to include officials from the Hungarian government.
"We have learned from several diplomatic sources independent of each other that the US administration is planning new measures to punish the Hungarian government, including the possible imposition of sanctions against influential individuals," the Hungarian publication writes.
Officially the country authorities have not commented on the news.
The White House called the statements of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban that the U.S. is the main opponent of Hungary an anti-American rhetoric.
